Associate/Assistant Professor in Image Analysis
Applications are invited for a position in image analysis at the Department for Informatics and Mathematical Modelling (DTU Informatics).
With this position the Department wants to strengthen its capabilities in teaching, research, and innovation within this area. The position is available from 1 July 2010.
DTU Informatics conducts teaching and research within mathematical modelling and computer science with a focus on applications in the engineering sciences. Computerised mathematical models play an increasingly decisive role in the engineering sciences, in industrial production, in planning and economics, and in the health care sector. The DTU Informatics activities are aimed at methodologies enabling us to deal with today’s ever increasing quantities of information. For more information about the department, cf. www.imm.dtu.dk.
The position is in the section for image analysis and computer graphics. Including this position the section comprises ten faculty positions, six post docs and 20 Ph.D. students. The group has a high degree of external funding from international and national research funds as well as direct industrial sponsorships. The section strategy emphasizes the conduct of methodological research in mathematical modelling of deformable geometry, multivariate statistics, and machine vision and the utilization of this research in the application domains. Particularly, comprehensive research collaborations exist with industry, university, and hospital partners within medical image technology, food technology, material technology, and biotechnology.
Qualifications
The associate/assistant professor must be able to work theoretically on an international level within several of the methodological research fields mentioned above. She/he must be able to apply her/his research within existing research collaborations in the group as well as developing new collaborations. Given the multidisciplinary character of the research field good communication skills and the ability to operate across a broad range of scientific and technological fields also in collaborations with industry and hospitals are required.
The candidate must be capable of teaching image analysis and related topics at the bachelor, master, and Ph.D. levels.
Candidates for an
- Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent)
- Associate Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training.
Assessment
In the assessment of the candidate consideration will be given to
- experience in teaching and education
- scientific production and research potential at an international level
- the ability to promote and utilize research results
- an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
